Kingfisher SEC are the people! This is why, in our blog section, we mostly share stories of our staff, their thoughts and their development in the security industry.
I joined Kingfisher SEC in July 2019 as a steward, and enrolled into an SIA course to become a licensed security guard at the same time.
Getting my Security License
When I first received my security licence, my first job was as a steward. This was an incredible experience, as it was British Summer Time in Hyde Park, with 65,000 people attending an event.
I attended more SIA security training and went on to receive my SIA Door Supervision and CCTV badges. With my additional training, I started working in different London based Security sites from colleges, retail, festivals to private parties.
As a SIA Door Supervisor, I was responsible for the safety and security of customers and staff, managed crowds and queues, patrolled inside and outside the venues, provided customer service, co-operated with police, first aiders and management.
I am so thankful that I’ve got the opportunity to work for Kingfisher SEC, I feel part of the family. Management is organised, helpful and very kind.
For the past year I have been working on a project for Hounslow Chamber of Commerce through Kingfisher Sec as a COVID-19 Ambassador.
It is a very responsible job during these difficult times; our priority is to provide advice to and help businesses operate in a COVID-19 secure way. We make sure that all businesses have social distancing signage in place, and that staff/customers are required to wear face coverings, that they provide hand sanitiser for their staff and customers and operate a one way system where possible.
If the business has 5 or more employees, the UK Government requires them to have a COVID-19 risk assessment. I check if they have it, and if they don’t, I will assist them to get a risk assessment done.
I progressed to a Team Leader with Kingfisher SEC last year, they helped and guided me with the training and courses to overcome everything. I am very glad that I am working with the right people at the right place, and I am grateful for their support and the chance they gave me to grow from a Steward to a Team Leader.
